SPAIN: ROCK, ROLL, RUMBLES, REBELS, & REVOLUTION OPENING
Pictured: Spain’s Motorcycle jacket from the ’60s.
The jacket is one of the first things you see when entering the exhibit. It’s such a strong piece of Spain’s history. When you see it, you automatically feel the connection between him and his art. The jacket is easily one of the most interesting things the Burchfield Penney put into this exhibit. It really gives you a sense of Spain and connects you to his art in a more personal manor.
In the 1960’s Spain Rodriguez was in a hardcore motorcycle gang where he “frequently cruised the North Fillmore Neighborhood on Buffalo’s East side with his hot-rodder buddies, blasting the latest musical revelations of George “Hound Dog” Lorenx.”
